PVC Adhesive
PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) adhesive is one of the best materials for bonding plastic components and is used in various fields such as construction, plumbing, and sewage systems. This adhesive has a very high bonding strength, and its main mechanism is cold welding. Using low-quality adhesives can lead to incomplete cold welds or weak connections between pipes. The connection of PVC pipes using this method results in a strong, leak-free bond similar to metal welding.
What is PVC Adhesive?
PVC adhesive is a solvent-based solution that evaporates after bonding two pieces, completing the connection through the absorption or evaporation of the solvent. The national standard of Iran for PVC adhesives is numbered 1174 (BS4346/3), which is based on the American standard ASTM-D256. According to this standard, PVC adhesive must contain unplasticized PVC, and its specifications and characteristics are detailed in ASTM-D1787.
The liquid should be uniform and have a medium viscosity (it should be fluid). If it contains large, undissolved plastic particles or impurities, it can negatively affect the final connections and chemical resistance. Additionally, the PVC liquid should not turn into a gelatinous state.
Important Note: The solvent liquid used for bonding soft PVC components, such as synthetic leather and coated sheets, is not suitable due to the high percentage of plasticizers in them.

- Maintain an appropriate working speed during application.
- Rotate the pipes together during bonding.
- After holding for 25 to 30 seconds, allow it to dry for 30 minutes before applying any load or pressure.
Storage and Application Tips
- Always stir the adhesive before use.
- Clean the surface below the work area.
- Store in a cool, dark place.
- Postpone application during hot hours of the day to cooler times.
- Do not use at temperatures below 4 degrees Celsius.
- Ensure the surface is moisture-free.
